Partners

Jono Hotz

Managing Partner

Jono Hotz completed his Bachelors of Business Science Degree at UCT in 2006 and Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) the following year. His articles were served under PwC in Durban. After relocating to Johannesburg, he started working as a financial accountant. In June 2015, he returned to Durban to join Nexia Levitt Kirson. Jono qualified as a Charted accountant in 2011 and became a Registered Auditor in 2016. Jono recently took over as managing partner from his father David Hotz.

David Hotz

Partner

David Hotz completed his articles at Alex Aitken and Carter (now KPMG) and then moved to the Small Business Development Corporation eventually becoming the Regional General Manager for KwaZulu Natal. He started his own accounting practice in 1989. The practice has changed it’s name over the years, eventually becoming Nexia Levitt Kirson. He is a Chartered Accountant and a Registered Auditor.

Kurt Bezuidenhout

Kurt Bezuidenhout obtained his Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. After finishing his articles at Nexia Levitt Kirson in 2017, he continued with the firm as an audit supervisor. In 2024, he became a qualified Chartered Accountant and was elevated to Head of the Audit Department. In March 2025, Kurt was promoted to partner. Renowned for his courteous and supportive nature, Kurt is committed to putting his clients’ needs first, offering dependable and timely guidance to help them achieve success.

Samantha Cheesman

Partner

Samantha Cheesman obtained her Bachelor of Accounting Science degree and thereafter her Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting whilst serving articles at PKF Durban. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2008 and went to work in London at PKF UK LLP as their Training Manager in the Technical department. In 2012, she returned to Durban and worked as the financial manager for a listed electrical wholesaler. In 2015 she joined an audit firm based in Hillcrest as the practice manager. She joined Nexia Levitt Kirson in March 2018 and was promoted to partner in 2019. Samantha is actively involved in the Nexia International network and is a member of The Nexia International People Development Committee. Samantha utilises her strong interpersonal skills to cultivate genuine client relationships resulting in exceptional outcomes.

Alida van Wyk

Compilations Manager

Alida joined Nexia Levitt Kirson in August 2024 as the Compilations Manager. Her career in finance began in 2000 when she pursued a B. Compt degree through Unisa while completing her audit articles at a small audit firm in Worcester, Western Cape. Over the years, Alida has successfully completed her audit articles and accumulated over 20 years of experience in the industry, having worked as an audit clerk, audit manager, financial manager, accounting supervisor, and senior accountant across various organizations. She finds great fulfillment in collaborating with young, ambitious professionals who are still shaping their careers.

Aradhna Budhram

Senior Audit Manager

Aradhna Budhram joined Nexia Levitt Kirson in 2012 as an article clerk after earning her Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting. She completed her articles within the firm and now serves as the Senior Audit Manager. Over the years, Aradhna has gained experience in various areas of the business, including bookkeeping, auditing, and general administration. She attributes her decision to make Nexia Levitt Kirson her professional home to the company’s collaborative team environment. Aradhna’s interest in the commerce field was ignited through her experience running her own events business. With a love for travel and nature, one of her greatest joys is spending time with her pets.

Arantxa Gowkaran

Audit Manager

Arantxa Gowkaran joined Nexia Levitt Kirson in November 2015 as an article clerk and by November of 2019 on completion of her articles, she was honored to be provided an opportunity to continue on as audit supervisor and now audit manager. During her article period she completed her Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal as well as obtained her Diploma in Advanced and Applied Accounting Sciences from the University of South Africa. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2021 and as a Registered Auditor in 2022. Arantxa’s motto is ‘no question is a silly question’ and would like to continue to utilize her knowledge and experience obtained through her journey to assist and develop current and future trainees.

Mohammed Pharos

Company Secretarial Manager

Mohammed was one of the very first employees, starting with the firm in April 1990. He heads up our secretarial department which includes the formation of companies and trusts, conversions of close corporations, maintain of statutory records, filing of annual returns and voluntary liquidations.

Priyanka Ramnarain

Compliance Manager

Priyanka Ramnarain is an Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and joined Nexia Levitt Kirson in October 2024. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Law (B.Com Law) degree in 2019, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Honours degree with Distinction in 2022, at the Independent Institute of Education’s (IIE’s) Varsity College, Durban North. Priyanka is an ambitious and energetic professional with a passion for law and compliance. She is meticulous and thorough in her work. Priyanka enjoys reading and travelling and she strongly believes that “You are the master of your own reality. What you believe, you will achieve.”

Samantha van der Merwe

Tax Manager

Samantha van der Merwe is a registered Tax Practitioner with SARS and a registered member of the South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT). She has successfully completed her NQF Level 6 qualification in Taxation and is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Accounting Science in Taxation. Sam has been a manager in the Taxation industry since 2010 and expanded her knowledge and confidence in dealing with SARS over the years, she has exceptional experience in handling top level queries as well as ensuring tax compliance and client satisfaction.

Shannice Nandhoo

Shannice obtained a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Taxation from Rhodes University. Following the completion of her articles at Nexia Levitt Kirson in 2021, she advanced her career by accepting the position of Audit and Drafting Supervisor. In 2024, she registered as an Associate General Accountant with SAICA and was later promoted to Audit Manager. With a reputation for her warm and approachable demeanor, Shannice is meticulous in her work, passionate about building client relationships, and committed to delivering exceptional service. She adheres to the belief that “Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work” (Aristotle).

Sharissa Pillay

Accounting Manager

Sharissa joined Nexia Levitt Kirson in May 2021 as a senior payroll consultant. She quickly demonstrated her abilities within our Accounting Department and was offered the opportunity to lead our outsourced bookkeeping and payroll team. She has worked in the finance industry for many years and gained valuable experience along the way. She is a practical, meticulous, and driven person with a flair for problem solving and therefore well suited to the NLK family.

Sue van Aardt

Office Manager

Sue started her journey with Nexia Levitt Kirson 5 and a half years ago as Receptionist/Personal Assistant. In 2024 she was promoted to Office Manager. Working at NLK has helped her realize her capabilities, and the trust that has been put in her is very rewarding. Sue can attest to the fact that commitment, hard work, taking a keen interest in the firm, and the people she encounters, does pay off!

Sue’s passion is keeping fit and it has been great to set some “personal bests” in the sporting events that NLK has encouraged staff to join. She loves to relax with a good book or watch a good movie with her favourite genre being stories based on real-life events. Sue’s favourite quote is, “Between stimulus and response there is a space. Hannah Munnery

Audit Supervisor

Hannah earned her Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Management and Accounting through Varsity College in 2020. In 2021, she commenced her articles at Nexia Levitt Kirson, concurrently pursuing and attaining her honours. Embracing the opportunity to further her professional growth, she enthusiastically accepted the position of Audit Supervisor in 2024. Hannah successfully wrote her last board exam in December 2023 and is currently a registered Chartered Accountant (SA). She strives to deliver high-quality results through effective collaboration, strong analytical skills, and a meticulous attention to detail, all while maintaining a proactive and solution-oriented approach to challenges. Hannah believes that each day presents an opportunity for learning something new.

Jared Alldred

Audit Supervisor

Jared Alldred joined Nexia Levitt Kirson in January 2024. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from Milpark Business School, which he completed in 2022. He Served his three-year articles at PKF in which he gained extensive experience across various industries and engagements. Jared is committed to empowering those around him and fostering collaboration over a “win-at-all-costs” mentality. With strong analytical skills, the ability to simplify complex scenarios, and a continuous thirst for knowledge, he strives to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and integrity in financial reporting and compliance—making a meaningful impact in the field.

Shahir Rajcoomar

Audit Supervisor

Shahir Rajcoomar earned his Bachelor of Commerce and Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He started his articles at PWC before joining NLK in 2023 to complete them. In 2024, he was offered a position as an Audit Supervisor, which he eagerly accepted. Shahir recently qualified as a Chartered Accountant. A dedicated and diligent young professional, Shahir takes great pride in the quality of his work and the staff he mentors.
